Album veröffentlicht haben, und dass ihr Sound musikalisch nicht kategorisierbar ist, oszillierend zwischen Dub, Ragga, Hip Hop, Drum’n’Bass, Worldmusic, Jazz und Elektronik, dabei ihren jeweils eigenen Stil prägend.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>Le Peuple de l’Herbe begannen als Duo zweier DJs, die vom Hip Hop her kamen, und bald um einen Drummer und einen Trompeter verstärkt wurden. In dieser Besetzung erschien 2000 das Debut-Album «Triple Zero» auf ihrem eigenen Label Supadope.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>Im Spannungsfeld, das von den DJs geschaffene Material live umzusetzen, und auf der Bühne Erprobtes wiederum im Studio zu verdichten, schaffen sie einen explosiven Cocktail aus Jungle, Hip Hop, Funk, Ragga, Dub, Breakbeat und Drum’n’Bass, gewürzt mit einer gehörigen Portion Humor.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>Hatte schon ihr Album-Debut durch aufsehenerregende Verkaufszahlen, verschiedene Preise, darunter als bester Live-Act Frankreichs, auf sie aufmerksam gemacht, wurde das Projekt auch durch ausgiebige Live-Präsenz, unter anderem mit der Asian Dub Foundation und dem «Godfather of Dub» Adrian Sherwood, weitherum bekannt.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>Gleichzeitig hat auch die Bühnen- und Studio-erprobte Zusammenarbeit an ihrer Musik geschliffen, sie virtuoser werden lassen, ohne dass sie an Unberechenbarkeit verlieren würde, wie auf dem diesen Frühling erschienen dritten Album «Cube» nachzuhören ist, welches unter anderem mit einer Zusammenarbeit mit Puppetmastaz aufwartet.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>Auch das fünfköpfige Projekt High Tone hat kürzlich das dritte Album «Wave Digger» (Jarring Effects) herausgebracht. Mit Ez3kiel, Zenzile, Improvisators Dub, mit welchen sie das Album «Highvisators» produziert haben, und anderen Projekten, gehören sie zum Kern der keimenden «Hexagonalen Elektro Dub-Szene» Frankreichs.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>Mit Bezug auf die Urväter King Tubby und Lee «Scratch» Perry, die den Stil für die B-Seiten von Reggae-Singles in den 60er Jahren kreiert hatten, wenden sie deren Studio-Techniken an unter Einbezug der aktuellen elektronischen Stile, insbesondere der für den Dancefloor kreierten.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>Besonders auf ihrer letzten Veröffentlichung sprengen sie dabei den Rahmen des für Dub-Puristen zulässigen, verweben in die süffigen Grooves ihrer Instrumentalmusik Samples asiatischer und orientalischer Musik, verwenden Industrial- und Soundtrack-Elemente. Den psychedelischen Touch ihres akustischen Outputs unterstützen sie mit Live-Visuals, die ihre Auftritte zum Erlebnis machen.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>Auch ihre fünf Label-Kollegen von Mei Tei Sho sind weitgehend dem Dub verpflichtet, und kennen keine Grenzen, indem sie zum Beispiel mit der traditionellen Gruppe Ganoub aus Ägypten das Projekt «Sandelaya» starteten.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>Ihr Name bezieht sich auf den chinesischen Ausdruck für einen Trancezustand, der durch den Überkonsum von Reis verursacht wird, was sie sich zur Formel gemacht haben: Sich entwickeln, sich wiederholen. Remaining open to many collaborations, they have built their own universe around the very concept of Dub music in its vast complexity.\u003Cbr \u002F>\nInitially labeled « ethno-dub », High Tone’s influences and sound evolved, in diverse ways – using Dubstep elements before the term was even created for instance – and they quickly became one of the main players in the Bass Music scene, a movement reuniting various schools of sound such as drum&bass, dub, glitch hop and other adventurous soundscapes that High Tone was never afraid to explore and dissect.\u003Cbr \u002F>\nHigh Tone, a trend setter in bringing dub music to a live audience, has become a household name on the European underground scene, touring extensively from Canada to China, from Poland to England, and playing small venues or massive festivals indiscriminately. The band continues to evolve through each new album and collaboration, melding influences inherited from hip hop, drum&bass, dubstep, and maintaining its core techno sound, a signature touch since the start. The « High Tone sound » is fluid yet constant, innovative, experimental, but always with a strong psychedelic and hypnotic flavor.\u003Cbr \u002F>\nThe group came together in 1997 on the slopes of the Croix Rousse district in Lyon, fueled by the concept of a rave-like, punk and independent spirit that still motivates the band to this day. This was soon followed by the Jarring Effects label, which was created around the band, and which they have never left, as they refuse to compromise their artistic integrity.\u003Cbr \u002F>\nThe Dubtones Sessions, initiated in 2002, showcased many of the values of the band : a musical communion with the audience, a melting pot of solidarity and creativity, allowing the band to forge alliances with other dub or electronic combos, resulting in new touring or recording projects. After Kaly Live Dub kicked off the sessions, it continued with Improvisators Dub, Zenzile, Wang Lei from China, and at last Brain Damage, for an extraordinary groundbreaking album that proves the continuing musical relevance of High Tone through the
