Sandro Ambrosi, also known as John Trauma from the Trauma Duo, always loved “the music who sounds different”. At the age of 13 (1985) he received his first synthesizer.
This was a deep impact in his life. He started to buy other synths and to compose music on his ATARI1040ST. The first 24-Track “twentyfour” Softwaresequencer from Steinberg was his Tool for a few years. Later Cubase (Cubeat) replaced the old Software-Sequencer on the ATARI.
Years passed by and Sandro tried to work with different kinds of technical equipment, but mostly the early Digitalstuff from the 90ies. This was mostly disapointing because the huge range of technical possibilities didn’t fit into the Usersinterface of this time and working with these machines was a “pain in the ass”.
Later (year 2000) he decided to work only with the Computer and the so called “Plug-ins”. That was nice…programming Controllers a lot of great synths and other stuff…yes, but just for a while. He still missed something.
In 2004 Trauma Duo with DJ Mastra (alias Pad Duo) was born. A great experience trip for both. A lot of live Performances followed and 2 great Ambient Albums where released.
During that time Sandro discovered the missing part; Analog Synthesizers!
Due the fact that, when he started to make music, mostly Digitalsynths where State of the Art, he never get the real experience of using analog circuits.
The following years a lot of vintage Synths and other analog gear followed!
Nowadays he like to mix analog, digital and virtual stuff together. There are no limits.
The Spacebox 720 Project is a kind of musical diary, while trying and experimenting, mostly without Computersequencing with analog gear. That means real analog Step- and LFO-Sequencingstuff. Limited gear use for taking out the Maximum of Soundabilities on monophonic analog equipment.
Enjoy the trip to the past and future.
