With an established presence in Iceland’s underground rap scene, Countess Malaise’s high-energy performances have already gotten her the pleasure of performing at music festivals like Sónar Reykjavík and Iceland Music Festival, and is a welcome addition to lineups at alternative and queer venues and festivals across Europe.
Her career has been heavily influenced by her background being a visual artist studying art in Amsterdam 2014-2018, where she was welcomed into the queer club scene in the beginning of her musical journey 2017 -collaborating with her close friends Lord Pusswhip, Alfred Drexler and Zgjim.
Her first EP titled Hystería 2019 and second Maldita 2021 both have received critical acclaim.
Malaise’s music touches upon subjects like rage, sexuality, love and mental illness. Fearless and enigmatic, Countess Malaise’s refusal to conform and her powerful live performances make this rising talent one to watch.
